Host Kimura Server

Overview

Use the Kimura server tab in Visual Server to host a Kimura server from the desktop app.

In this mode, you configure Kimura server host settings and the default file server (FS-DEFAULT) that runs alongside the Kimura server.

When you use it

Use this mode when you are running the main Kimura server instance and need direct control over service state and configuration.

What you can do here

  • Configure Kimura server host settings (server name, hosting port, and server storage path)
  • Configure the Kimura server certificate used by the host
  • Configure FS-DEFAULT settings (TCP port and file server storage path)
  • Configure endpoint bindings to other file servers when the server is running
  • Start and stop server hosting
  • Monitor server status from the status indicator at the bottom of the tab
  • Use Administration when the server is running
  • Use Logs when the server is running to review server activity and troubleshoot issues

Typical flow

  1. Open Visual Server and select Kimura server hosting.
  2. Enter or confirm Kimura server settings (name, port, location, and optional certificate).
  3. Enter or confirm FS-DEFAULT settings (TCP port and storage path).
  4. Start the server and monitor Status at the bottom of the tab.
  5. When the server is running, use Administration, Logs, and Setup bindings to other file servers as needed.

Notes

  • By default, Kimura server location points to the local AppData KimuraSCM Servers folder.
  • By default, FS-DEFAULT location points to the local AppData KimuraSCM FileServers folder.
  • While server hosting is active, host and FS-DEFAULT input fields are disabled and become editable again after stopping the server.
  • Administration, Logs, and FS-DEFAULT endpoint bindings become available only when the Kimura server is running.
