Visual Server

Overview

The Visual Server is the Windows desktop app used to set up the basic configuration required to start and host a Kimura server. It can also be used to configure and start hosting a File server.

After KimuraSCM is installed, start Visual Server by running the kvs executable from a terminal or by selecting Kimura Visual Server from the Windows Start menu. The installer also creates shortcuts for the application.

You can run it in two main ways: host a Kimura server (with an optional default file server) or run a standalone file server that connects to an existing Kimura server.

When you use it

Use Visual Server when you are operating Kimura SCM infrastructure from a desktop UI, including first-time setup and service restarts.

What you can do here

  • Start and stop a Kimura server host session
  • Run a standalone file server that connects to another Kimura server
  • Open administration tools while the server is running

Main window workflow
